Trying to reformat my computer without the recovery disk?

July 29th, 2010 admin 6 Comments

I have an HP laptop that runs Vista and did not come with the recovery disk. I have been using my computer for over a year and just read that you need to do it manually. My computer is not running well right now so I do not want to back up to these settings. How would I go about reformatting it from here? Thanks.

hps usually have a program that will burn a recovery disc for you.

To fully reformat a computer you need an OS (Operating System) installation disc. If you don’t have one, then you’ll need to buy one.

There are two ways to fix that: you can either restore your system to an earlier time “start =>program =>accessories => system tools =>restore system”.Try to choose the earliest time possible. Or you can Install an optimizer such as “Registry Fast” to scan and optimize your system problems. If you had windows vista cd or DVD you could boot your system by that and then choose “Fix your current windows” from the menu .

yeah, hp has recovery program on your hard drive that reformat your drive and reinstall vista. restart and press F11 (i think) continuously during bootup until the recovery manager shows up.

You seem bent on wanting to reformat. You do not usually have to reformat your hard drive if your PC is not running properly. You could unload a lot of junk by using some free programs to clean up the clutter. You should definitely get a good registry cleaner program to clear up your registry which can do wonders. Also run some virus and spyware scans.

Most HP computers usually have a recovery partition that may not be visible from “My Computer”. On boot up, press the F8 or DEL key to get to that partition.
