I have a mac book that need windows software. I can get a vista recovery disk for 16$, which is way cheaper than my other options of buying new software for 150$, more or less. The mac doesn’t have any previous windows software and runs on Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard. Would I be able to get vista through the recovery disk? Or any better options?

1.Recovery disk is not a installation disk. you have preinstalled vista, u can use recovery cd for repairing options.
2.not possible windows vista and windows softwares installation in Mac.
No, you need an actual Vista installer in order for you to get Vista.
You need to use BootCamp from Apple – see the link below; you’ll need to have a license for the Vista install, past the 30 day trial period.
BootCamp should be included in Snow Leopard
It is possible to install Windows on a Mac, But not from a recovery disk.
I don’t think you can use a recovery disc, but it might be possible, depending on the disc. You could buy an OEM version of Windows, which is relatively cheaper than the retail version, however there is no other difference, and both will install and activate fine. I would recommend purchasing Windows 7 instead, though.
To install, you need to use the software included in OS X called Boot Camp. You can find it in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. After installation, insert you Mac OS X Install DVD (if you used a Retail version of Snow Leopard to install OS X) or Mac OS X Install Disc 1 (if that’s the disc that has Snow Leopard and came with your computer. Install the drivers then you are good to go.
Hope this helps.
You cannot use a recovery disc. A recovery disc is only good for the make/model line it was made for, and that the computer have a license for that OS (The recovery CD is just a replacement part, not an OS license, which you need a license to legally install and use the OS).
A Mac has only OSX licwnesed to it.
The only way to get Vista for a Mac is to buy a full retail license and copy for it.
